What was your favourite part of the course?
It's kinda strange. I had no real experience in camera work before I started the course, but once I saw the tool it gave me a passion, which I felt I had always wanted to explore – even though I never knew it. I had dabbled in a bit of photography, but this camera work gave me so much more to explore.
Acting, because it was a great experience and fun to do. Also, the course itself, because you get to meet a lot of people. We became a big family.
Post-production. Clearly because I'm a masochist ... Basically because it's the best part of making a film, being able to put in the extreme hours at our own pace and see the film come together. It's really easy to see what's been accomplished at that stage.
The writing, because I learnt the most from it. I found it helped me to think critically and better understand formula.
Acting, because you learn so much more about yourself, gaining self confidence as well as improving your skills and learning a lot more about acting in the industry.
Production was my favourite. Although it was tough and hard, it was then that I learnt the most valuable lessons. All the practical exercises were great fun too!
Acting. That is my passion. That is what I love doing.
The actual shooting of the movie. Nothing compares to 'real' experience.
Do you feel empowered by the course?
I definitely feel very empowered. I don't think many people my age have been able to do the things that I have done ... the time spent ... the efforts and the sacrifices. You get out of it what you put in.
Yes indeed. I have learnt a lot about filmmaking and as far as I'm concerned it was all good. Now that I've had a taste of what it's like, I just want more.
Yes. I feel that it has given me a practical sense of what the industry offers.
Yes, because I feel with all the hard work in making the film and then watching it at the end, you just feel good.
Yes, but greatly due to the networking done throughout the course.
Yes, because we could do anything we wanted – if we were willing to put in the effort. I learnt what to do and what not to do in this industry, so I feel I can face anything else that this industry throws at me.
This gave me the opportunity to enter the industry and that is one thing I am extremely grateful for – plus the people we met. The last 12 months was a awesome experience. |
