A class act!

Benjamin Hanly is one of the latest actors to join Class Act Theatre Inc.'s “Bully Busters!” production; a touring group of actors who promote anti-bullying around schools in Australia through performances.

Hanly, a Participate FA graduate, is currently working in the Sydney contingent of the “Bully Busters!” program, branching outside of the Sydney region when required. As an actor in the show, Hanly performs with a team of singers and dancers as they educate school students about the negatives of bullying.

“So far it has been very challenging as we have to play about half a dozen characters each and we slip up, kids are a tough audience and will let us know!” said Hanly.

He currently performs in two kinds of shows -- one catered to primary students, and one for high school students. Through singing, dancing, acting and story telling, “Bully Busters!” aims to get the message across to students of the effects of bullying. Issues such as racism, sexism, classism and discrimination are dealt with, as are lessons on practising tolerance and understanding.

Class Act Theatre Inc. was formed in 1994 and tours Australia with its variety of performances, the most famous of which being “Bully Busters!”. Class Act has often worked as a "bridge" for young actors on their journey from amateur to professional theatre.

Hanly will be acting in these shows until the middle of 2008.
