FAR FROM FALLEN
Our November newsletter kicks off with some celebratory news -- one of Participate FA's own teachers, Samantha Noble -- has starred in "Gabriel", a film that has just been released nationwide.
Noble stars along side Andy Whitfield, Dwaine Stevenson and Erika Heynatz in this horror-esque flick that follows the story of fallen angels and the battle between Heaven and Hell. Her character is Amitiel, the third of the arch angels sent to purgatory to restore the light. However, Amitiel loses her wings in a battle with the main fallen angel, Sammael, and becomes a prostitute and drug addict to deal with what purgatory has to offer the mortals. Eventually, she becomes the love interest of the lead actor, Gabriel, and is a pivotal character in deciding the outcome of the story.
Yet, despite the grandness of the themes and the polished final product present to us, Noble says that it was a difficult film to make.
"It wasn't a large scale movie at all. We were all working for nothing at that point; it was a deferred payment film, the catering was Continental packet noodles; the sets were actual dumpsters with no holding area or greenroom let alone a trailer, we were given three days of rehearsal which was mostly taken up with fight boot camp, and were given basically once take to get it all right," said Noble. " it was an unpleasant experience for me, but I am quite proud of the result as a whole because I know where we came from."
Production difficulties aside, Noble says that the experience was worth it.
"There was a lot more passion on set. People were there because they loved the process of film making and for no other reason."
GOING GLOBAL
Class of 2006's feature films, “Battle Therapy” and “Battle Therapy Too” have been sent around the world to be viewed by a number of major distributors, some as far as Italy. In Australia, Icon Films are currently interested in looking at the two feature films. We hope to have a distributor by the end of the year.
