Monique's country houseDay 15, 16 & 17
17th & 18th & 19th of November – Monique’s house.
We filmed the scenes that took place in Monique’s Country Home at my house. The irony being that, in the film, Monique’s home was shot at my real house, and Ally’s home was shot at Little Jess’s real house. It was supposed to be a four day shoot but thanks to everyone’s hard work and cooperation, we worked it down to three!
Art made a new friend that day... literally. His name was “Fuzzy Art” and, might I add, was one extremely attractive person with his furry face, jelly bean eyes, prescription glasses, spiky hair-do, clothes-peg ears and cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He also managed to appear in a number of shots, just when the actors were about to perform Oscar-Winning Performances! Ahem…
Apart from that, there was muesli throwing, a lot of screaming and finally, trampoline bouncing. Morgana, Jacqui and I started up a coffee and tea production company in the mornings to wake everyone up. These refreshments were of the highest quality and we were told that “the waiting services were superb and extremely professional!” Well, they weren’t the exact words but I know that’s what everyone was thinking! Morgana provided catering, and lunch breaks were the only times when people stopped talking completely!
It was interesting shooting at my house! It was a little bit difficult due to the fact that I had to help people with a lot of things but it was a fun experience and one to remember. A lot of people just had to mind the equipment in case it rained while the rest of us inside had fun shooting the best scene which the one in the kitchen. Little Jess and I got to have a huge food fight! We had to make sure, however, that when knocking the fruit off the table, one avocado fell on the floor but two stayed on the table but rolled to the side, the fruit bowl had to land upside down on the floor, two bananas fell so they landed in between the chairs, one stayed on the table and two hooked onto Little Jess’s arm… this was one of the more challenging parts of the scene! I wish I could trash my kitchen more regularly… if you haven’t done it, you’re missing out on a lot so go do it now.
It was a tiring three days but it was worth it every minute of it…

Day 15 – Over the moon.
We rock! Our crash scene should turn out pretty fantastic. Today we had great assistance from Keith and Tony and car-tech. They make a cop car, a cop car! They are so great and kind to lend us 2 or 4 cop cars on the day of our crash site shoot, as well as a connection to the ambulance service. So now, we have the fire brigade, ambulance officers, and police! Very exciting.
Aside from that, the film is back on track. After the big draw back of loosing a key location in the film, we were forced to stretch our limited resources. We did it. The Sheppard’s are no longer homeless, woo-hoo!
We are about ½ way through the shoot! We still have a long way to go.
You know, it’s amazing. The beauty of doing this course, and making a low/no budget feature film, is that you come into contact with people you never thought you would. Fun fun fun!
